What are the characteristics of polypropylene fiber?
更新时间:此处显示添加时间

Polypropylene fiber, also called polypropylene, is a synthetic fiber made from isotactic polypropylene as raw material using propylene polymerization technology and processed through a special process. It has five main characteristics: polypropylene fiber has high strength, good elasticity, wear resistance and corrosion resistance. Has good insulation and warmth. Poor hygroscopicity and dyeability. Polypropylene fiber has poor heat resistance and aging resistance. Polypropylene fiber is very lightweight.

Polypropylene fiber has high strength (the same strength in dry/wet conditions), and its strength can reach the strength of polyester. It is very suitable for making fishing nets and cables; it is wear-resistant and elastic, and its rebound rate is comparable to that of nylon. Polyester is much larger, and polypropylene fiber has poor stability, so polypropylene fiber fabrics are prone to pilling and deformation; their chemical resistance is far superior to other fibers, and they are highly antimicrobial and not easy to be infested by insects.

It has good warmth retention and insulation properties. Polypropylene fiber has poor thermal conductivity and its resistivity is much higher than ordinary fibers. Compared with other chemical fibers, polypropylene fiber has good warmth and insulation properties. Polypropylene fiber has poor dyeing performance, light color and low color fastness. Ordinary fuel cannot dye it. Colored polypropylene fiber is mainly produced by pre-spinning coloring method. Fuel complexing agents can be mixed with the original solution for coloring and fiber modification before melt spinning. The dyeability and hygroscopicity of polypropylene fiber are poor among all chemical fibers, and it has almost no moisture absorption ability. Fine polypropylene fiber has a strong wicking ability, and the absorbed water vapor is eliminated through the capillary tubes in the fiber.

The raw material of polypropylene fiber is propylene, which has a low melting point and poor stability when affected by heat and light. Therefore, polypropylene fiber has poor aging and heat resistance. Try to avoid ironing to avoid losing shape. Manufacturers generally add certain anti-aging agents during spinning to improve the anti-aging properties of polypropylene fibers. Its quality is very light, and the density of polypropylene fiber is the smallest among all chemical fibers. Therefore, polypropylene fiber is often used as wadding for winter clothing, mountaineering clothing, ski clothing, etc.
